Tropical Fruit Stamps
I admit I was a wee bit too into the details of planning my wedding. Many hours were spent picking out the perfect invitations, designing the little maps printed on vellum paper, stuffing the tissue paper in each one, and of course selecting the perfect lovey dovey flower stamps. Once the invitations were complete, I sent my husband to the post office with the precious cargo, certain that everything was just perfect. When he got home, he casually mentioned that the envelopes required additional postage because of their size. Or maybe it was their shape. Me: “What? You had to buy more flower stamps? (please oh please say yes)” Him: “No.” In hindsight, my reaction was really ridiculous, but I kind of freaked out when I took a look at the stamps he added. And no. They were not flag stamps. On these stamps was the most hideous bird head you could imagine. I can laugh now. But for weeks afterward, I tormented myself by posting these stamps on our refrigerator door. Every time my husband caught me looking at them, he’d say in his best parrot voice “Pretty Bird!” So now you see why pretty stamps have special meaning to me. Especially these Tropical Fruit stamps. If I had some right now, I’d probably be inspired to write some of my many long overdue thank you cards.
