Bookshelves and Bookends
We’re big on books around here, and have stacks of them all over the house. I am inspired by the “family bookshelf” (shown above) I spotted on maya*made. She had the same issue, and found an old fixer upper bookshelf that she brought back to life with a few coats of paint. Now her family has easy access to all their good reads.
If you’re considering adding a bookshelf, or just sprucing up one you already have, take a look at these handmade fabric bookends from Debra at Joshua by Oak. Debra is a fellow Phoenician, and is kindly offering 20% off anything in her shop to Fun Finds For Mom readers. Just enter the coupon code “FFFM20″ in the “notes to seller” at checkout, and she will refund the money via PayPal. (I think the “Up North” bookend with the antlers would be a great hostess gift if you’re heading up to someone’s cabin this summer.)
Happy summer reading! If you have any good book recommendations, please share!

For Local Blog

That is quite inspiring … good thing I have a handy husband with lots of tools
And the book ends are pretty darn cute, too! You always have the best ideas!
i love to read – i usually have two books going – one for reading in the living room and one to read in bed! i found on Amazon.com that you can buy books for a penny! of course the shipping is 3.99 but that’s fair to me – i have read authors i never would have read if i got books at walmart or the grocery store. i don’t drive so i can’t order books from the library. i have found new authors..such as Alafair Burke, Kristin Hannah, Mary Kay Andrews, Karen White,Debbie Macomber, and Dorothea Benton Frank. I just ordered a book by Virginia Woolf called a Room of One’s Own. i’ve never read anything by virginia Woolf so i’m looking forward to that. I just finished reading the last book by Stephanie Myer about the little vampire called Bree. it’s a short easy read. Even if you just to go amazon and look up books you might find new authors that you can get at your local library. I can’t and don’t want to imagine life without books. PAPER books not kindles etc!
That’s funny you mentioned ordering used books on Amazon. I just ordered two yesterday – Father’s Day books with projects for dads to build with/for their kids, and a Dr. Sears healthy family/nutrition book. You’re right. The prices for their used books are pretty great, even including the shipping cost.
i always think of the shipping as tax and the time and money spent to go to a big box store! if you look at the info about a certain book and scroll to the prices, you’ll see something like mass market paperbacks – those are usually a penny!! how fun your kiddos and their dad will have building things together…and you’ll be getting good nutrition info for you all.
take care
