Chili Mango Popsicles

I was so pleased with myself for buying some Tovolo popsicle molds. I was sure my popsicle-buying days were over. I’d be making all our popsicles this summer — experimenting with exotic recipes — blogging about my ice pop creations. But then I took my daughter to Trader Joe’s and she really wanted me to get these Chili Mango popsicles. So I did. When she took her first lick, she squinched up her face and said it was too spicy. So of course I had to finish it.
These were so spicy and delicious — one of the best popsicles I’ve ever had. That was yesterday afternoon. I had another one last night, and a third after lunch today. Who knew chili would taste so good with mango? I guess it’s a popular combination in Mexican paletas, which I now can’t stop thinking about. I may have to make the trek to Paletas Betty in Chandler to try the Pina con Chili (pineapple with homemade chili powder), Mexican Chocolate or Platano (bananas foster with homemade caramel and rum) paletas. Are you drooling? I am.
Maybe I’ll get inspired to whip up my own spicy icy creations. If I do, I’ll be sure to share. What are your favorite cool summer treats?

SUPER YUMM!!
To answer your question, I love shiso juice made from the leaves growing wild in our garden. If the shishito pepper crop is successful, maybe I’ll throw some in with the juice…
xoxo!
Nummy. I wonder where I could get shiso around here.
Shall I mail you a care package of them? ;D
