Fun Finds For Mom

Circus Birthday Party

We had my son’s 5th birthday party at our house yesterday, and… am I allowed to say that I think it was a blast? We invited his whole preschool class plus some other neighbors and friends, and I think we ended up having around 40 people there. I was inspired by a post on the Hostess Blog to have a circus birthday party, and my son got really into the party planning and decorating. We turned the puppet theater into a popcorn stand, where he and his friends worked as popcorn vendors, passing out boxes of kettle corn to the “customers” as they arrived. The kettle corn was from Cost Plus, and it was delish. I think eating it out of the popcorn boxes made it taste even better. We put a few elephant toys on the mantle in a circusy elephant train, decorated with red, blue and yellow streamers, balloons, and gave Barnum animal crackers and a few other trinkets in the goody bags. The highlight was the bouncy that our friends loaned us (Thanks Kerry!) – and of course the pizza, mom’s chili, and the cake and ice cream. It was a gorgeous spring-like Arizona day for eating, playing – and in my case, talking, with friends. Here are a few pics:
