A paper towel replacement at last

So the other night I spent way too long online researching possible paper towel replacements. I had recently resigned myself to my crazy paper towel using ways, because I just can’t stand the smell of stinky rags and sponges truly gross me out. I use paper towels to wipe tables, counters, kids faces, and spills. Lots of spills. It’s ridiculous how fast we go through paper towels, which obviously is doing the environment no favors. I finally decided that I was going to order a Mabu cloth. It’s made of 100% natural wood fiber. 8 layers of it, in fact. According to the description, it’s naturally bacteria resistant and most importantly - doesn’t stink!

But then the next morning, I noticed a package of Trader Joe’s Amazing Kitchen Cloths sitting on the counter of my parents’ cabin, where we spent the weekend. My mom had cut one in half because they really are quite big. I used one half cleaning up from her delicious french toast breakfast this morning, and after using and rinsing several times, there was no stink on that rag! It looks kind of like something you’d polish your shoes with, and I read here that they’re made of viscose which is super absorbent. My mom gave me my very own cloth to try out at home, and I’m kind of abnormally excited about this. I think a trip to Trader Joe’s is in my near future, and I’ll be sure to grab a package of these Amazing Kitchen Cloths along with my little coffee cup sample - always a highlight on my TJ trips.

Update: I bought some today. Aren’t they pretty?
