Fun Finds For Mom

Doodle Dolls Paper Dolls

If you have a 3 or 4 year old daughter (especially one who loves dolls or clothing, or in my case, both), or are going to a birthday party for a girl of that age, I highly recommend this Doodle Dolls paper doll book. It comes with two punch out dolls and a TON of color-in clothing and accessories. My daughter has spent hours working in this book since we got it last week. Cherry and Miah are like a part of the family now.

We looked at several other “paper doll” choices at the bookstore before picking this one, and I’m glad my daughter and I both agreed this was the best. It’s much more conducive to creativity than some of the dolls that come with clothing that sticks on with magnets, or the Disney dolls that come with their own princess clothing.

I just asked my daughter for a quote — she says “I like putting the clothes on.”  There you have it.

oh how cute! i loved paper dolls when i was little(about 50 years ago!). i even had some with the magnets! my favorite was the roy rogers, dale evans and dusty paper dolls! i liked then more when they moved to my town and i could see roy, dale and dusty at the store or church! made the memories of the paper dolls so much more real. could also be the start of the crafting bug for a young person, whether boy or girl..
today i’ll be making the watermelon sorbet or in my case – slushy! will let ya know how it turns out.
thanks for all of the interesting things you find for us.

Thanks for your note Sarita! I have vague memories of liking paper dolls when I was a kid too.

Today I sat down with my daughter and we colored side by side in the book together. She looked up at me with a smile and said “Mommy, I like doing this with you.” It was one of those moments that melts your heart.

My friend just reminded me about the “Fashion Plates” we used to play with as kids – where you’d rub the crayon over the plastic plates to make your clothes. What a blast from the past!

Fashion plates! LOVED those! Would today’s kids laugh at the concept, I wonder?! :D
