Yarn bombing for kids
We just got back from a trip to Pinetop, where we stayed at my parents’ cabin in the woods. One afternoon, my mom and I went into town to hit the antique and thrift stores, where I scored two bags of craft loops (about 1,000 of them total) for 50 cents. My kids were so excited to loop them into a long chain that stretched almost all the way down the street. Inspired by the yarn bombing of these trees (shown below), I suggested they wrap the trees with their colorful thread.
They wrapped them around three trees, creating a magical fort inside.
You can buy bags of craft loops right here.
These make a great travel activity, either using to weave the traditional pot holders, or just to loop through themselves like my kids did. Hours of crafty entertainment!

Hi! Oh I love this! You know I will get a couple of bags of these and do this with my grandsons!!
I have never heard of “yarn bombing”. Will have to spread the word!
Thanks!
We sure loved the beautiful, spider web-y design that they patiently wove around the trees in the front yard! What a super project!
That is my kind of crafty/mess beautiful day! The best kind of days are just that ephemeral and transitory and fun. Love it!
Have fun with the loops Sarita! Thanks Carrie — I had a feeling you’d like this one
And Mom, thanks for letting us add some color to your little patch of forest! xoxo.
Beautiful!!
This is something we only can imagine..
