Fun Finds For Mom

Fourth of July Tie Dye

Using instructions from our Handy Dad book and a $4.99 blue and red tie dye kit from Michael’s, the kids and I tie-dyed some old white t-shirts for the family to wear on the 4th of July. My hands turned dinosaur purple (couldn’t be bothered to keep the gloves on), it was 110 degrees out and the wood patio table got dye squirted all over it. Did I mention everyone was super cranky after long hot day? Good times.

So maybe it wasn’t the idyllic experience I had imagined for my first tie-dye adventure with the kids, but I have to say, I was pretty darn happy with the results.

And it’s been fun seeing people’s reactions to my crafty looking hands. Especially my doctor this morning, who got a very concerned look before I explained my mottled skin. (Yep -now I have strep too). Hopefully I’ll be happy and healthy for the 4th of July when I’ll be proudly wearing my spiral dyed shirt!
