Goodwill find: mid-century modern night table set
Every now and then I get the urge to go treasure-hunting at Goodwill. This morning, I headed for the furniture section to look for a desk chair for my daughter. Instead, I found these — two mid-century modern night tables. My first thought was that I could re-sell them for a nice profit. Because you know how much I paid for them? $12.99 each! I tried to find the same ones online, but the closest I came across were these, these, and these.
Now, I actually think I might keep them. Why? Because I opened the drawers and took a sniff. Suddenly I was seven years old, sitting in the “jumping chair” at my grandma’s house, with a TV tray and a grilled Velveeta and pickle sandwich, watching The Price is Right. Then I was over at my best friend Rosina’s house rocking out to Elvis 8-track tapes. I guess what I’m trying to say is that I’m really loving these night tables. They just might be the first of more mid-century modern pieces to come. That reminds me, when does the new Mad Men season start?
