Kiddie Records Weekly
I had pretty much forgotten about listening to Peter and the Wolf and Bozo Under the Sea records as a kid, but when I read Burgin Streetman’s guest post on Design Mom a few months ago, it brought back such memories.
Thanks to Burgin, I’ve been introducing my four-year old to some of my favorites, and lots of other great records at Kiddie Records Weekly. This is a website that started with a project in 2005 to add one kids record from the “golden age of records” each week for a year. Well, they ended up adding a new record each week for 3 years, and continue to add bonus records. They’re all available to download or listen to as streaming audio at no charge.
This is a special treat for my son and for me - (especially on days when I’m cursing myself for taking away his TV privileges!) It’s funny how he sits and stares at the one unmoving image of the record cover on the computer the entire time. He loves Peter and the Wolf as much as I did, and gets just as scared when the orchestra plays the sound of the wolf!
