Make your own soft pretzels. Yum.
I’ve been wanting to make hot soft pretzels for a long long time. I had made them about a year ago with a super easy recipe that I forgot to save. So I looked at a few recipes on line and chose this one because it didn’t require a dough hook. How could a recipe requiring a “dough hook” come up when I included the word “easy” in my recipe search?
Anyway, these pretzels weren’t hard to make, but there were several steps involved with lots of dough resting periods. The time and effort were so worth it. They were DELICIOUS. I think what made them so good was the boiling, which made them soft and chewy on the inside, and then the baking to make them golden brown and crispy on the outside. You can see above that only 11 remain on the cookie sheet about to go into the oven, because one of them didn’t quite make it to the baking phase. And here’s the final scrumptious result:
