I used to dip the cucumber, tomato and pita into the hummus too. Then I tried a sample at Trader Joe's that had it all mixed up (plus feta cheese) and spread on flatbread. Now I love stirring it all together and spearing the fork into lots of different hummus-covered bits. I'll have to try the Sabra. Thanks for the tip!

The best hummus I've found (and I have searched far and wide) is Sabra hummus. You can buy it at Costco (at least here in SoCal you can find it there). I eat this meal accept I eat it less like a salad and just dip my chopped cucumbers and pearl tomatoes into it. Also tastes great with pita chips. You can make your own whole wheat pita chips by buying whole wheat pita (I buy mine from Trader Joe's) and cutting it into wedges. Brush with a little olive oil and sprinkle with garlic salt and/or some italian seasoning. Pop in the oven at 350-degrees for about 15-20 minutes and, voila, yummy, healthy pita chips. My kids love them.

Elaina, congrats on you Parents' Pick award!!!

The hummus is from Trader Joe's - just their regular kind - not the one with all the oil and pine nuts on top. It's funny you mention Safeway hummus, because I was out of town last week and bought some hummus at Safeway and it tasted so bad I couldn't eat it.

I feel kind of bad talking trash about Safeway hummus, because believe it or not, Safeway's PR company sent me an email this week saying they'd like to give me gift cards to use and give away to promote their new "everyday low prices".
