new goal: learn to sew… I mean “handy stitch”
My goal is to learn how to use this in 2010. My husband bought this Handy Stitch “sewing machine” years ago to hem some curtains, and I had forgotten we even owned it — until he got it out last week… to hem some more curtains. I really can’t imagine being a sewing person, since my only sewing project was a lumpy pillow I made in 8th grade home ec class. (I know I’ve told you this before, but now that I’ve had this blog two years, I’m sure this isn’t the only time I’ll be repeating myself.)
I like thinking I could possibly make cool things like this or this that only involve sewing a single straight line.

This would be perfect for me. I failed craft at school because I couldn’t get the hang of the sewing machine!
Lains, the only thing I have ever made with a sewing machine was my lumpy 8th grade home ec pillow. I finally tossed it a few years ago. It was blue. My mom was so proud.
And she still has my cutting boards from shop class. Ahhhh, Ingleside.
I’m beginning to see a trend here … you like garland, huh?!
If the Handy Stitch proves too mechanical for you, I highly recommend some double-sided hemming tape … but probably not for garland … hugs from the NW!
I know – I’m strangely obsessed with garlands. Already planning how I can “sew” one for valentine’s day. Gary’s my hemmer. He’s a whiz with the handy stitch. I’m a lucky girl.
