Fun Finds For Mom

Rodan and Fields Skincare

I admit, skincare has not been a priority for me in my adult years. Once I was past the skin “issues” of my teenage years, I got very lazy with my skincare routine. I remember when I had a girls’ weekend with my friends a few years ago, and my friends were discussing their skincare regimens, while I was like — OH, so I should be washing my face at night on a regular basis? I admit, I have been not only disinterested, but also very frugal when it comes to taking care of my skin. The result? Let’s just say it’s been a while since I’ve been carded at Trader Joe’s.

My longtime friend Mary recently became an independent consultant for Rodan and Fields, a skincare line created by the dermatologists who also created Proactiv, which you may have heard of. The Rodan and Fields line is sold directly by consultants like Mary, and features four main skincare lines, Reverse, Anti-Age, Umblemish, and Soothe.

When my friend first told me about her new venture, she said that  in our 20s, our cell turnover was between 28-30 days.  In our 30s it takes twice as long for cells to replenish.  She said to imagine our skin as plump red grapes covered by a layer of raisins and then finally a layer of oatmeal on the surface.   By exfoliating, it’s like removing the layers of oatmeal and raisins to uncover the grapes.

I don’t know about you, but I looked in the mirror and saw major oatmeal raisin skin. I wanted to be a grape! So when Mary offered to have me try some samples to review, I was more than happy to start turning over those cells.

I’ve been using the Anti-Age regimen for a month, and I have to say, my skin is much more grape-like. Before, I would use inexpensive moisturizers that would do the job of moisturizing, but at the same time, they’d be clogging up my pores, so I always felt like I was doing as much damage as good. Now I feel good about all the products I’m using on my skin. My pores are noticeably smaller, and my skin is much softer and smoother to the touch. I think the quality ingredients in these products (which let’s face it, you do have to pay a premium for) make a big difference. In my case, my wrinkles and laugh lines haven’t proven to be easily erased, but aren’t those just signs of a life well lived? (Or maybe it’s time to move up to the AMP MD.) On the bright side, the plumpy smoothness and minimized pores mean that now I skip makeup every now and then, because I don’t feel like I need to cover up so many flaws. When I do put on makeup, I use less — it’s more of a light cover than a thick layer.

I love the smell and feel of all the products. The mask leaves my skin feeling super clean, the toner refreshes and tightens my skin, and both the morning and night creams are so light to the touch, and you just need a small amount to glide all over your face.

If you’re interested in investing in higher end skincare products, you might want to give Rodan and Fields skincare products a try. I would recommend using small amounts of the product each time to make them last longer. The company also offers a Satisfaction Guarantee, where you can return the unused portion of the product for a full refund (minus shipping and handling) within 60 days, if you’re not satisfied with the results.

Also, if you are interested in becoming a Rodan and Fields consultant yourself, Mary is looking for business partners in all states. If you’d like to try the products, of course she always welcomes customers too! Her website to purchase the products is: https://marysebald.myrandf.com/Home and her phone number is 6025220900.
