Fun Finds For Mom

Seeing Stars at IKEA

I’ve been to IKEA twice in the past week. It’s a bit of a trek, but one that I’m always happy to make. I was there to purchase a large quantity of RIBBA frames. I’m working on our preschool auction, and as part of our fundraising efforts, two mom photographers took a photo of each child at the school, and we’re framing and selling them at the auction. Because who wouldn’t want to buy a beautiful photo of their kid, right? At least that’s what we’re hoping!

Anyway, I also discovered a whole line of star-spangled stuff that I just love. I couldn’t resist the duvet cover with matching pillowcase for my son. It was on sale for $14.99. I also bought this set of 3 tins, which are perfect for holding silly bands, pencils, and other desk clutter. Okay – and I also bought this matching metal “plant pot” because it matched and was $2.99. For some reason I felt compelled to buy all these matching components until I realized these stars were sprinkled through the entire ginormous store on everything from aprons to gift bags. I admit, I had the star potholders in my basket for a while. But I put them back.

I put the duvet cover and pillowcase on the bed tonight, and they look even better than I thought. I love small additions that give a room a whole new look. (I also scored in the “As Is” section. I’ll save that for a post at another time!)
