I love the story behind Sprout. The company was started by a guy named Clark Davis, who grew up with a love of building, creating and inventing — much like my own son. His cabinet maker dad taught him about woodworking, and his smart mom taught him that Legos were to “make and break” — the value was in the building process, not the end result. Clark kept building and inventing until eventually he came up with the idea of creating a line of mobile furniture in college — to make his frequent moves a little easier. He entered a few design competitions, won some prize money, then took the idea to Kickstarter, where he did a little “crowdfunding” to bring his product to market. The result — a line of modular furniture for kids, that kids themselves can assemble. No hardware or tools required! Watch the video on the Sprout home page to see how it works.

I included the Sprout table and chairs set in my first monthly Ideabook, or collection of 20 product recommendations, I created for Houzz.com. I would love for you to check out my first Ideabook: Fun at the Thanksgiving Kids Table. Lots of ideas for making the kids table THE place to be on Thanksgiving.
