I was delighted to get a package from Natural Pod last week containing this Small Stacking Rainbow and a few other goodies I’ll tell you about soon. I have long admired this stacking rainbow because to me, it represents the simplicity and beauty of natural wood toys in general. The layers are made from solid Alder wood and colored with non toxic water based dyes. When I unwrapped the rainbow the other night, it inspired me to clean off the cluttered mess of brightly colored plastic toys on our kids’ toy table, and set this out along with a few other wood toys, giving them plenty of space to play and create.

The kids were surprised to see the new toy (and the clean toy table) when they woke up in the morning, and spent a good chunk of time arranging the rainbow’s layers all different ways. The rainbow has been migrating between the toy table and the dining room table, because I like how it looks as a centerpiece - and honestly, I like to play with it too. Today I made a cave. When I showed my son, he wanted to go inside it so badly. Too bad they don’t make life-sized stacking rainbows. I guess that’s what cardboard boxes are for!
