Summer Boredom Buster Book
I ordered this book about a month ago, after reading about it on Salt and Chocolate. If you’re going to buy one book with ideas for fun and quick activities to fill the long days of summer with your preschooler, this is it. I’ve never made a musical instrument, and I’m not particularly crafty, but the other day, we made a harp, a shaker, a kazoo, and two wearable drums in about the time it would take to watch an episode of Little Bear. The ideas in here are seriously so easy and you can use the things you already have around the house - rubber bands, shoe box tops, cookie pans, cardboard boxes and such. My son now asks for his “preschooler book” to pick out an activity to do when boredom strikes. And I feel like such a good mom when I see my little ones jamming in their own little jug band.

Cool! It was so fun watching the kidlings jamming on their
new instruments on skype last week. I am now drying out
the fresh bamboo from our garden in the hopes of making
a new instrument to add to the collection…will keep you

I am so glad you like it! I just feel there is something special about this book, even though it’s not particularly hip or cool in the normal sense. It’s fun and down to earth.
Thank you so much for recommending this book! I have told several friends about it too. The other day my son picked the superhero costume project, and he was zooming around the house with his apron cape, paper cup wrist shields, paper plate chest emblem, aluminum foil belt, and foil-covered bike helmet. (He was an astronaut superhero). Thanks again!!
