Vintage treasures
I have a new hobby. Treasure hunting. It seems all the American Pickers, Picker Sisters, Storage Wars and Pawn Stars episodes have been swirling around in my brain — and when I bought those mid-century night stands and then sold them for a nice profit, something clicked. I’m now fixing up a mid-century round wood cocktail table that I found at Goodwill.
I also picked up this vintage bowling bag that came with a four finger-holed bowling ball that used to belong to “Vince” and a pair of collectable 80s Nike bowling shoes. It makes me wonder about four-finger hole Vince — who was he — and why was his bowling gear was donated to a thrift store? Why did he give up bowling? Did he die?
Wouldn’t this make a cute bag– not just as a bowling bag, I mean? I watched an episode of Pan Am last night and thought the stewardess’s bowling bag style bags looked so stylish slung over their arms as they tried to crash a party for JFK. (I am selling this bag on Craigslist. If you’re interested in the vintage Nike bowling shoes or bowling ball, please contact me at elaina (at) funfindsformom (dot) com.)
I’m thinking of putting these treasures on a separate site, since some of you may not be as excited about my vintage junk as I am. If you’re here for more kid-related content, bear with me. More Halloween fun coming soon.

I’m the same…I love scouring vintage and charity shops for great finds. The bowling bag is fabulous. I have picked up some amazing stuff for my kids, house and me!
Wow. Mom’ll be proud you’re carrying on the tradition!
I am turning into mom. Gary said I looked just like Phyllis the other day when I was rearranging furniture in the garage! I now have three large furniture pieces to sell. I think I have a thrift store addiction.
That’s hilarious! Have a great Halloween…I’m actually going to get creative this year and some Halloween pizzas for the neighbor kids!
whoops I meant “bake” some pizzas…of course
